Experimental Investigations of the Effects of Secondary Air Injection on Gaseous Emission Profiles (NO<sub>x</sub>, NO, NO<sub>2</sub>, CO) and Hydrocarbons (C<sub>x</sub>H<sub>x</sub>) in Cookstoves Using Charcoal from <i>Eucalyptus glandis</i>

Use of biomass in domestic cookstoves leads to the release oxides nitrogen (NOx), nitric oxide (NO), dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons CxHx that can be detrimental health public environment. Attainment complete combustion is best strategy for mitigating these emissions. This study sought experimentally determine effects secondary air injection on emission profiles NOx (NO & NO2), CO a charcoal operated cookstove. Charcoal from Eucalyptus glandis was bought Kakuzi PLC. Composites three batches were analyzed chemical composition stoichiometric equivalent. Proximate analysis data show composed 58.72% ± 3.3% C, 15.95% 1.2% Volatile Matter, 4.69% 0.55% Moisture, 20.7% 0.8% Ash, High heat value (HHV) 30.5 1.1 29.3 1.3 Low (LHV) (MJ/kg) with formula C18H2O requirement 5.28 0.6 fuel flow rate 1 kg fuel/hr. Emission reduced significantly by 70% 80% respectively whereas those increased between 15% 20% NO2 NO. The reveals has potential mitigate release, however other measures are required
